Launched in May 2008 by David Ingram and Marc Lyne, both former BT workers with a background in directory listings, Brownbook already has over 25 million businesses listed worldwide and over 2.2 million in the UK. Promoted as a free ‘local’ business directory that anyone can edit… it is also a ‘global’ business directory in which anyone can participate in reviewing or updating business information. As a holiday property owner you can have a free basic listing with contact details and a web address

Your listing in Brownbook.net could help your website's ranking on the major Search Engines, so you'll be found more, not just in Brownbook.net but all over the web. The listing itself is also indexed by the major Search Engines which means that it could appear prominently too.

To submit a directory listing go to the home page click ‘Add a business’ in the top navigation.

Complete the simple form ensuring that your choice of ‘Business name’ is a keyword heavy description of your holiday home. Eg Holiday ski apartment in Bansko, Bulgaria.

There is also a section, when adding your listing, which is called ‘Tags’. It is here that you should include relevant words dedicated to your holiday home. These are used by Brownbook to round-up all those websites with the same tag for easy reference. Include a comma after each one to make sure they are showing properly.

You will be sent an email on completion to confirm and be offered the opportunity to ‘claim’ your listing to enable an upgrade to more management tools – there is a small fee attached to this.
